Thank You for honoring MAJ Sammie Etheridge’s 50 years at Chamberlain-Hunt!
Thanks to all who joined us this past March for the special Alumni Day celebration of MAJ Sammie Etheridge’s 50 years at Chamberlain-Hunt.
For 44 years, Allison “Maj” Killingsworth taught and disciplined hundreds—thousands—of Chamberlain-Hunt Cadets.
Maj died at home on 28 October 2005.
Despite energy-zapping and often painful effects of cancer with which he suffered for years, Maj was still in the classroom the week before he died.
He spoke often of wanting to complete “just one more year” before retiring.
In 2000, Maj became the first recipient of the Academy’s its highest honor, the Chamberlain Award, for his exemplary character and innumerable contributions to the Corps of Cadets.
In 2004, the Academy named it new Crusader compound, “Camp Killingsworth.”
The Academy paid final tribute to Maj at a memorial service held at the Presbyterian Church on 02 November 2005.
His death, however, is not the end of Maj’s influence over Cadets.
Because of his great love for these young men, his family has set up a memorial fund at Chamberlain-Hunt in his name, The Allison “Maj” Killingsworth Fund.
If you would like be a part of continuing Maj’s legacy, you may contribute to the memorial fund either on-line or by sending a check to:
The Killingsworth Fund

Port Gibson, MS 39150
If you have questions about the Fund, please contact the Director of Advancement, LTC Jack West.
We would love to hear your recollections of Maj. Please share them with us by e-mailing them to alumni@chamberlain-hunt.com or mail them to the Academy.
